The Best Clubs in Leeds For Students
Back
Leeds is a northern powerhouse of a city and is regularly listed as one of the UK’s best nights out.
If you’re seeking the biggest pop bangers or a cheap student night, then you’re in luck because Leeds boasts 65 nightclubs, which is the joint most in any UK city outside of the big smoke London.
Is Leeds a Good Night Out?
The pre-drinks are done and dusted. So get on your dancing shoes, as Yorkshire’s favourite son Alex Turner once said, and let’s hit the town.
Here’s our lowdown on Leeds clubbing so you can dance the night away to the latest tunes and embrace the night with the best drinks offers in West Yorkshire.
As long as you always drink responsibly, look after your friends and stay safe, Leeds isn’t just a good night out; it’s a great one.
Otley Run
While not a club (and certainly not an actual run), we can’t answer the question “Is Leeds a good night out?” without paying homage to the legendary Otley Run. Consisting of at least ten establishments, this is the ultimate pub crawl, and your university experience in Leeds is not complete without it. So get your best fancy dress sorted and head over to Woodies Craft Ale House and start your marathon!
Best Clubs in Leeds For Students

There is no shortage of student bars in Leeds, so here are a few of our faves, along with a couple of nightclubs in the city centre, ideal if you’re living here or even just visiting friends at uni.
Fibre Leeds
Fibre on Lower Briggate opened its doors in 2000. The club’s owners pride themselves on staying at the forefront of house music trends, with thumping club nights six days a week, including Fibre House Classics every Tuesday.
Fibre and Queens Court joined forces 20 years ago to throw Bank Holiday weekend courtyard parties, soundtracked by top DJs using a wild Funktion One sound system.
On Wednesdays, from 6.30 pm, the music is turned down as students gather for quiz night. Each team gets a free pizza, and if you’re a winner, there are plenty of prizes to take home (or straight to the bartender if you’re lucky enough to win your bar tab).
Queens Court Leeds
The private cobbled courtyard at Queens Court in the beating heart of Leeds’ Freedom Quarter is a familiar favourite of the city’s LGBTQ+ community. There’s entertainment all week long, including Rock and Roll Bingo on Wednesday nights and cabaret on Fridays.
The venue in this historic building is open seven days a week with happy hour and 50% drink discounts from 4-9 pm Sunday to Friday. On Thirsty Thursdays, drinks are available from just £3.00 from 9 pm.
Looking for a Bank Holiday party to celebrate the long weekend? Fibre and Queens Court join forces regularly for parties you won’t want to miss, while the venue comes into its colourful own during Pride with tons of fabulous events perfectly curated for your night out in Leeds.
The Hifi Club Leeds
Perhaps one of the best clubs in Leeds city centre, The Hifi Club is the three-time winner of best nightclub and best live music venue at the annual Leeds Bar & Club Awards. This means you’re in for a good night, especially if you enjoy a boogie to soul, funk, hip hop, reggae, and disco.
If you’re into artists like Leeds legend Nightmares on Wax or the iconic DJ Gilles Peterson, you’ll want to keep an eye on the Hifi Club’s event listings. Why? The venue’s owners are great at spotting fresh, exciting musical talent and regularly book acts that fans of those artists will love.
Gin and Juice is one of the most legendary hip-hop nights in Leeds, so if you love your Snoop Dogg, Nas, Dr Dre or NWA, get ready to claim your space on the dancefloor and point those gun fingers to the sky.
Saturday night is all about belly laughs with Comedy Club welcoming funny men and women onto the stage. Past guests include Alan Carr, Reginald D Hunter, Chris Ramsey and Katherine Ryan.

Wharf Chambers, Leeds
Wharf Chambers is an intriguing spot for those looking for a leftfield and inclusive hangout, with the community space used for music performances, art shows, film screenings, political debates, and radical discussions.
Interestingly, for the avid readers amongst us, the Wharf Chambers’ Radical Lending Library has plenty of books covering all sorts of important topics, including sexuality, race, class and radical political thought.
While there is a membership cost, it is completely affordable for students: just £2.00 for an annual membership and £15 for a lifetime membership.
Distrikt Leeds
This is another venue for the house heads. For more than a decade, Distrikt has hosted some of the most influential names in house music, which have included esteemed names like Detroit legend Juan Atkins and Chicago innovator Marshall Jefferson, as well as Glasgow duo Optimo (Espacio). Perfect for party-goers, the venue owners’ focus is on the music (although table bookings are available if you fancy a sit down after wearing the soles of your shoes away on the underground dancefloor).
Imaginarium Leeds
Imaginarium is more than a club. Those who operate this multi-purpose, artist-led collective, which is not far from the Corn Exchange, are focused on fostering a community around visual arts, music and creative writing.
Plant and Deck is Leeds’ only shop selling both house plants and records and is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, although they may accommodate your visit if you turn up outside of those times.
Narr Radio is a digital station playing homage to Yorkshire’s legendary post-punk and avant-garde movements (think Gang of Four and Scritti Politti), which broadcasts on Saturdays and Sundays out of the space.
Get in contact with the Narr Radio team, and if you match their ethos around music, poetry or political discussion, you might be given a chance to start your broadcasting career!
Mint Warehouse Leeds
Mint Warehouse has three indoor rooms and a legendary terrace that’s home to the biggest LED ceiling in the UK. If you’re a fan of underground electronic music, your algorithm may have shown you this cool feature already.
Incredible visuals aside, the Funktion One sound system is top-notch and the perfect way to hear your favourite face melters (hearing protection is advised).
London-based DJ and producer Shy FX is a regular performer at the venue, which is undoubtedly one of the best Leeds DnB clubs. After fewer beats per minute? Notable house and techno DJs to have graced the Mint Warehouse CDJs include Ricardo Villalobos, Patrick Topping and Amelia Lens.
The venue’s event programme runs through the winter with indoor events and into summer with banging shindigs, including day, night and no-phone-on-the-dancefloor parties, all just minutes away from Leeds train station.
Freedom Mills Leeds
This 500-capacity venue is perhaps the most industrial-feeling venue of the many nightclubs in the city, and if you recognise names like Hunee, Flava D, Evan Baggs, Prosumer, HAAi and Call Super, you’ll want to keep track of the venue’s event programme.
This multipurpose events space caters for electronic music events and the regular club programme, and an outdoor space called the Yard, which opened in 2025 with a mammoth 13-hour-long day party, is pretty cool.
Outside of repetitive music, the space at Freedom Mills is often frequented by art exhibitions hosted by the city’s passionate creatives, and it is also used commercially for trade shows and the like.

Popworld Leeds
Love dancing like nobody’s watching to cheesy noughties bangers? Popworld is just the place to feed your nostalgia. It is the place to go for that super basic night out in Leeds, soundtracked by fun mashups, bubblegum pop, and singalong anthems from the 1990s and 2000s. Think Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys!
Did somebody say bubbles? It’s not just the vibes which flow at Popworld, because Friday’s is all about pizza and prosecco, which is perhaps the tastiest double act since rap and pop sensations Outkast and Hall and Oats hit the charts.
Ten Bar Leeds
One of the best student bars in Leeds, Ten Bar is the spot for you if you like cocktails and the latest tunes played loud and proud by top local DJs.
Is Ten Bar the best Thursday night Leeds club? You bet, because from 9 pm, the cocktail bar has popular two-for-one offers on all your favourites, including pornstar and espresso martinis, Long Island Iced Teas and Sex on the Beach. There are also yummy shooters, shots, spirits, wines and proseccos which will hit the spot.
If you can’t wait for the weekend, you can even become a member of Ten Club Thursdays, where you’ll get a free ticket which can be exchanged on the door for a wristband, giving you access to even better drinks offers.
Thank us later, when you realise for yourself that Ten Bar is one of the best cheap student nights in Leeds. You’re welcome.
The Warehouse Leeds
When we say legendary, we mean LEGENDARY! The Warehouse opened its doors to punters in 1979, but these days you’ll have both feet in the future with all manner of world-class DJs bringing the heaters to the dancefloor.
With regular extended four-hour (or longer) sets from the club’s residents or international names, this club is an institution. Honestly, it should be in every discerning clubber’s Mount Rushmore of club nights in Leeds.
Regular club nights include Spectrum, Function and Coloursound. Renowned tech-house label Cadenza rips through the building every once in a while with their firebrand tech-house events that are both hypnotic and bone-shaking thanks to the venue’s Funktion One sound system.
Home Leeds
This two-room nightclub located in The Light could be your home away from home if you enjoy cheeky drinks offers.
If you’d rather be throwing back shots and cocktails than queuing with everyone else, then Home has a few VIP packages on offer. This means you and up to 12 friends are entitled to jump the queue and will be on the right side of the velvet rope for a late night of shenanigans.
Musically speaking, Home has a chockablock calendar of different genres and styles with late-night parties most weekends and odd special events like Abba-themed parties thrown in for good measure.
A quick look through the venue’s social media channels will give you an idea of what’s on. Recent (ish) events include an 80s day disco where, presumably, everyone was dressed in shoulder pads and neon while grooving to Don’t Stop Believin’.
Viaduct Leeds
If you like your nights out to be glam, glitzy and totally wild, then cabaret venue Viaduct in the Freedom Quarter should be on your gaydar.
It’s a fabulous night out where the vibrant West Yorkshire LGBTQ+ community assemble each weekend for performances by drag artists. The in-house Viaduct Showteam are also known to sing their hearts out to the likes of Elton John, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Cher, and Lady Gaga.
The Broadway Lounge upstairs is a private area if you need a hideaway from the wild crowds downstairs. Either way, everyone will be out and proud and enjoying a fabulously colourful night out with rainbow coloured bells on!
The Space Leeds
We haven’t spoken about funky house yet in this guide to Leeds nightlife events. But that’s because we’ve just arrived at the final stop of our big night out in West Yorkshire.
The Space has been open for a quarter of a century, which could be even older than you. The club is banging each Friday, while Connekt on Saturday nights is the jewel in the crown of this underground spot.
The long-running Skint night has just been replaced by a new night called Spaced on Thursday nights, while there are regular VIP meet and greet events with previous guests (including Love Island stars).
There are extra-special day parties during the summer to look out for, so put your gladrags on and go enjoy yourself.
Leeds University Union Societies

Not a big clubber? Don’t sweat it. Whilst Leeds student nightlife is pretty good, there are more than 300 unions and societies at Leeds University, from belly dancing to basketball, Warhammer to wine; all of which are listed on the Leeds University Union website.
If you’ve made some new friends at a society or on the dancefloor, there are plenty of parks and trails in Leeds to explore, where you can do something more wholesome and replenish that dopamine during a break from study. You could even save your money and enjoy a cheap night in, too!
When Is Student Night In Leeds?
Every night is student night in Leeds if you know where to look, which, handily, is on this blog. For instance, The Warehouse hosts weekly Thursday student nights, while Fruity at the Leeds University Student Union on Fridays is the longest-running student club night in the city, and perfect for a weekend lark once lectures and studies are done and dusted.
