Surrounded by nature and rich with history, Egham is a beautiful town – and the perfect place to stay while you’re studying at Royal Holloway or nearby. With a national park on its doorstep, Windsor a short drive away, and regular direct connections to London, Egham has everything you need to enjoy your time at university to the fullest.
Being able to walk to the pub is one of student life’s simple pleasures. And Egham is full of them. The majority are within walking distance from each other, and from Hox Park. And if you’re wanting to let your hair all the way down, Windsor – with even more pubs, clubs and late-night bars – is a short bus ride/Uber away.
Egham really is the best of both worlds. Surrounded by stunning views, you can enjoy nature just by stepping outside. The town centre is packed with pubs, shops, and restaurants. Again, Windsor is great for day trips, with lots of boutique shops and high street favourites – not to mention Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park. For moments you want to get in amongst the hustle and bustle, there’s a train to London every 20mins. And for peace and quiet, Runnymede National Park is a stone’s throw away.
Switching off from studies is easy in Egham. From castles to memorials, the area is full of culture and history to explore. Students love strolling around the Runnymede National Park – home to the Magna Carta and JFK memorial sites. The Runnymede Air Forces Memorial is within walking distance. And at some point during your time in Egham, a tour of Windsor Castle, the Queen’s weekend residence, is a must.
Egham and Englefield Green offer a delicious mix of cuisine. From Italian to Persian, coffee shops and excellent pub meals, whatever your heart (and stomach) desires can be found close to Hox Park. And whenever you fancy a big night in, Uber, Deliveroo and Just Eat have you covered.
